Field Broadcast Engineer - Chicago at K-LOVE & Air 1 Christian Radio Networks, Chicago, IL
Educational Media Foundation (EMF) is an evangelical ministry. America's largest broadcaster of contemporary Christian music, with the mission of transforming lives through music and prayer. EMF's two programming formats, K-LOVE and Air1, play contemporary & alternative Christian music with positive commentary through 600+ signals across 47 states. Its dedicated pastoral staff responds 24 hours a day 7 days a week to listener calls, providing immediate encouragement and prayer support and connecting listeners to local churches and social services within each served community. EMF has 360 employees working in 27 states, and is headquartered in Rocklin, California.
We currently have an opening for an experienced Field Engineer to provide technical and engineering support to a variety of broadcast facilities within this assigned region, ensuring EMF programming is broadcast successfully and to the highest level of quality. This is a field based position that is responsible for the Chicagoland area.
Qualification/Experience Requirements:

Minimum of 3+ years experience troubleshooting and repairing failures in broadcast electronic equipment – trouble shooting audio & RF issues in a radio transmission system.
- Thorough understanding of the components necessary in a broadcast air-chain
- Proven ability to deal with multiple, simultaneous problems in a systematic and logical manner
- Ability to read and understand basic electronic schematics, electrical drawings, and construction drawings, making appropriate modifications when necessary
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to carry out calculations in common broadcast-related formulae such as transmitter efficiency, transmitter power output, wavelengths, and antenna system gain
- Elementary understanding of satellite technology
- Basic understanding of radio frequency emissions .
- Ability to solder and desolder electronic components without causing damage to the components or PC board .
- Knowledge of applicable, broadcast-related FCC rules and regulations .
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation. Ability to think logically from problem to solution.
- Proficiency with standard broadcast test equipment, such as VOMs, oscilloscopes, and RF spectrum analyzers.
- Ability to work independently with a high level of integrity.
- Strong computer skills with to include MS Office products and other common software (Internet browsers, etc.)
- No relocation assistance, so candidates currently residing in the Chicagoland area preferred.
Job Travel Requirements: Up to 75% is expected.
